- Management of the design delivery process. Preparation of a design programme to align with the overall construction programme. Resources are managed to achieve deliverables within the time constraints of the design programme.
- Change Control. Identification and documentation of changes to the client scope and assistance in justifying recovery of subsequent client costs. Resources are reallocated to ensure changed priorities are achieved.
- Procurement process. Overseeing the procurement process to ensure suitability of products offered by manufacturers and suppliers.
- Buildability issues. Developing and maintaining relationships with the design and construction teams to ensure buildability issues are adequately addressed.
- Assisting in developing the design programme, preparing regular progress reports and attending progress meetings.
- Assisting in preparing budget reports, maintaining accurate cost records, issuing enquiries for competitive quotations, selecting sub-contractors and suppliers, valuing and agreeing sub-contractor and supplier costs in conjunction with the procurement team, ensuring products offered by suppliers and manufacturers are fully compliant, monitoring delivery periods and manufacture and preparing applications for payment. Overall responsibility for the budget continues to rest with the client.
- Quality standards. Ensuring high quality standards are achieved. This would include attending regular client meetings, inspecting the works and preparing defects lists, ensuring completion of defects rectification works, coordinating design information and clarification of design issues.
